    What does that mean? Umm...apple does ship USB only iPods but that doesn't make USB better. Firewire is faster even though the specs say otherwise.

    Firewire 800 is mad fast, but virtually no hardware makers use it, because its in about 5% of computers, while USB is in 95% of them.

    Have you tried purchasing/borrowing an older firewire cable? I have one that runs from my AC charger to my ipod.

    Also, USB2.0 is faster than firewire

    usb2.0 > firewire > usb1.1

    The point is that the new iPods no longer support that, plugging in a firewire cable results in this.

    Everyone knows that despite the specs firewire will always be faster. The longer firewire is going the faster it is. Read that.

    you are an idiot. Firewire 800 is 800mbps. USB 2.0 is like 300 or 400.

    firewire = firewire 400, 400Mbps
    firewire800 = firewire800, which is 800 Mbps MAX
    usb 2.0 = high speed usb, 480 max
    usb 1.1 = usb, 100ish, i forget

    so when we say firewire, we mean the 400 Mbps one

    yes, but you're quoting the specs for MAXIMUM theoretical bandwidth.

    In reality, firewire achieves higher speeds than usb. :wiggle:
