I have a Toshiba Tecra M4 in the mail and I'm trying to decide which connection I want for an External Harddrive...

What which is faster? I know USB 2.0 is 480mbs/s but i heard it isnt always runing at that while FireWire is 400mbs/s always?

What is the difference between i.Link and 1394a???

any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Firewire in the real world is faster

    /thread

Edit: USB is more convenient if you need to use the drive on someone else's computer though.

Not that I know of - one's Sony, the other's Apple.

Edit - sorry - firewire is Apple, I.Link is Sony.
