I just downloaded Firefox because I went to some random website and like 100 spyware installed its self without my permission and I keep getting pop ups. Not firefox is shaking up and down just little bits but it is pissing me off. I don't know why it is doing this. If anyone can help that would be awesome.

Its angry at you for surfing all those tranny porn sites. Try more wholesome porn or some puppy pic sites and it will calm down.

Switching browsers is not gonna fix your spyware problem. Fix that first, then IE will be fine.

My brother had a problem with text shaking in firefox before. He'd have to close it down and open it again.

(and I don't think it was due to spyware, it was a fresh XP install. The text doesn't shake anymore, so I've no clue what was up)

And doesn't spyware take advantage of security holes in the browser? Therefore switching to firefox WOULD help, as would keeping IE up to date.

    But still, Secunia say:
    and for IE 6:
So it's safer to use up-to-date FF than up-to-date IE ATM. No surprises, really.

Plenty of 'tards on Ubuntu and none of them have viruses/trojans, and it's not because they're ultra-careful (why should they need to be?).
Eh, no. Since Windows doesn't setup a user account by default, the user gotta do that themselves. That's something the user shouldn't need to know how to do. They don't need to know it in OS X, or basically any of the GNU/Linux distros where user-friendliness is a priority (of which there are many).

IE isn't the safest web-browser in the world, even when patched, especially with ActiveX enabled (the default). If I ever needed to use IE for a decent period of time, I'd always disable ActiveX, but Average Joe shouldn't need to know how to do that.

As for malware/virus checks, they're not too bad when you know where to get the software (and can afford it etc).

It is not hard to get a virus/malware, on Windows.
