Anyone a fan? 14 episodes and one kick ass movie finisher. This show is like Cowboy Bebop in live action and on steriods. I loved every episode. Great character building and enough tech and action to keep it's place in sci-fi. I really liked the acting too, which is rare.

The show takes place in a post overpopulation expanded universe. There are dozens of worlds with the worlds near the center called the central planets controlled by the Alliance. Fringe worlds are independent and have virtually no system of government or police. Our crew aboard the Firefly class ship named Serenity are a rag tag group of cargo haulers and salvagers, oh and did I mention contraband dealers. The first 14 episodes are story and character building through their various escapades in both Alliance and independent space evading the law and the bullets of their enemies. Many of the backwater planets have a country western feel including the use of horses and carriages. The central planets are the epitome of utopian technology and thought police. The episodes culminate into one of the best 'after-series' movies I've ever seen. The action is ramped way up as is the pace of the plot. The antagonist wasn't overdone and just about everything was reasonably believable and it didn't feel rushed at all, which is usually what happens in these after-series movies. Overall this series is excellent. Given many more seasons it very well could have competed with B5 for my top spot.

    New best order:

    1. B5
    2. DS9
    3. Firefly/Serenity

    big drop off

    4. SG-1
    5. TNG
    6. Battlestar Galactica (new one)
    7. SG Atlantis
    8. TOS
    9. ENT
    10. VOY

Caveat ~ About to start Farscape and a few others later.

    Enjoy!

I just started to watch Firefly a few days ago - and I love it. I guess I was inspired after watching Joss Whedon's new outing, Dollhouse. Thankfully, Firefly is wayyyy better.

This show has some hilarious writing... plus the whole 'space meets the wild west' theme works surprisingly well. I just got introduced to this show and I already love it :hs: Too bad it got canned before it's time.

    But yeah, Firefly is amazing.

Firefly is a great show, definitely in my top 3.

I don't have a ranking for my top 3 but they're B5, BSG (new) and Firefly.

Firefly is like having your salad tossed. Everyone who has actually tried it, loves it.

After reading you rant and rave about Farscape for months at various times, I've decided to try it out :hs: The first ep was... weird, for me. I'm not used to watching such a pure sci-fi show. For a show that's 10 years old, it has some decent CGI, and I LOVE the muppet characters... CG is way overused and it's nice to see another approach to strange-looking creatures. So far, it's cool though... has a weird feel to it but I usually get that from 1st episodes.

Think of it as Buck Rogers, only instead of 500 years into the future, he's halfway across the galaxy.

The first season is all over the place, and there are some weird episodes, but the main story is awesome.

I just finished the first season of Farscape. It was ok, but nothing great so far. I'll keep watching it, but I'm also starting my 2nd journey through DS9 at the same time. Farscape just isn't holding my attention. I'll finish it eventually.

Also have B5 downloading for another trip through that too :o

I caught the entire show on Hulu. Fing amazing show. I can't believe it got cancelled when it did. It was to good to be cancelled. We should really figure out a way to bring this show back.

Bebop? I always felt like it was a complete ripoff of Outlaw Star, never liked it for that reason.

Thanks, you've reminded me that I wanted to see Outlaw Star. I'll be checking it out soon :)

I love Bebop so I'm curious what this is like, I understand that while certain aspects are similar they are quite different in style and content.

Watched all of the Firefly episodes back to back from Netflix. It is definitely a show that deserves more than one season.
