Again tonite had the chacne to go donw to the warehouse fire site, got alot closer this time, and was able to get some shots of the firemen in action.

Please, your thoughts, suggestions, advice, always welcome.

Tonite most these were taken with Nikon D80 - Nikkor 18-135mm DX kit lense.

Firefighters seem out of focus. If anything try using a tripod and doing long exposures to see how that would look because with the kit lens, under that light, it's gonna be hard to get them completely sharp.

They were done on a tripod, with 1sec exposures.... some of them might be slightly out, since they were moving around, since they were fighting a fire... cant exactly ask them o pose!! hahaha.. thanks though for the suggestion and advice.
The EXIF data shows everything incase your wondering

    Is this a practice fire?

Or, is the warehouse just burning really slowly??

    I like the pictures btw.

Try using higher ISO to get your shutter speed up.

Thank you... i will try this next time im shooting at night. Im a noob still, and learning.

This wasnt a practice fire, I posted pics down a little further of the original fire, it was massive and on Monday night. These pics were taken Tuesday night, while the firefighters were saoking hotspots in amongst the rubble of the building. So these are 24 hours after the original fire.

When i went by there today - it was still smoldering, and the firemen were still there.

Thanks for the compliments, and suggestions. I truly appreciate them all, and learn from them.

Since there's a fire nearby that puts off a lot of orange light, I guess I should give you some leeway on the white balance, but generally, when you're shooting under tungsten lights you should switch your WB to the tungsten setting. Or just shoot in RAW if you don't want to decide.

I've always found night shots with a strong orange hue to be rather unattractive.

HOWEVER there might be fire nearby so...

Nothign was in the warehouse, it was a old factory, thre is rumors there was some inhalers for a hospital in the one part, but nothing confirmed by the firefighters on teh Tuesday night.

Thanks for the advice on the WB, I never even thought of that to be honest, being a noob and all.
