so this afternoon I noticed my external HD wasnt showing up on my desktop, I switched the power off then on and still nothing, long story short I tried plugging it into the other port and also my printer and ipod dont work through the firewire ports either, the only thing I can think of is this morning the power cut off in my house for a second, I have a fairly decent surge/ battery back up protector.

    its a powermac g4 with 10.4.9
