Wow.. so slow and laggy. I've already repaired permissions, etc..

Any idea why a C2D 2.16 with 3GB of Ram is running so utterly slow? Averaging use of 1.2GB of ram now; when in 10.4.9 I was using around 300mb..

Did you Upgrade or did you do a Clean Install? An Upgrade will do exactly what you're describing, so if that's what you did, try a fresh install of Leopard. Guaranteed that will help

It's unfortunate, but all you're doing really is laying a new layer on top of stuff that you currently had. With this, it will really help it out a lot.

I archive/installed my install too :hs:

I really don't feel like installing all my programs and files so I"m just going to tough it out until Snow Leopard comes out :hs:

I just got my MBP and I have noticed finder is extremely laggy. Takes about 2-3 seconds sometimes for local files to show up. But if I hit back right away and then forward they are all there instantly.

i did the upgrade and it's a little laggy compared to tiger (MBP 4gb ram) but I have so much crap on there that I installed when I first got it that I don't even use anymore so I might do a fresh install at some point.

IF you are talking about the lag when opening folders in finder I may have a solution. It worked on my MBP anyways. Set the Double click speed higher, for some reason this greatly increases the time it takes for items in the finder to show up. Weird bug I guess.

Like other said, clean install is always the best route.

Out of my mind, brb never.
Well see, I just installed a 320Gb drive in mine, and its all slow and laggy too. I did a backup in time machine then transferred all my old stuff to the new drive via firewire in the new install. So is that why (other than the slightly slower HDD rpm) its being all laggy, and a lot of programs are "Not Responding." I was kind of leaning towards this, but wasnt sure.

If that is the case, what options do we have? I mean I have A LOT of stuff on this computer, and its all really goignt to be PITA to transfer it all manually after a fresh, clean install.

Not a bad idea, I should upgrade the drive while I'm at it. Didn't think of that. Hmm.

PITA, but thats your best bet, IMO.
