    11 days to May 16th.

    Any last minute advice?

One thing, I typically shave my head, but I heard if I go in with it shaved they're especially going to fuck up my head.

youre going to sit in the chair regardless, so why shave your head beforehand?

some vet marine from nn told me that shit. I don't really trust what he says considering he retired in 1994. You make an obvious point though.

Advice: shut your mouth and do what you're told.

Nobody will care about your hair.

volunteer for everything. DIs love recruits that give their 110%. Try to brown nose them b/c they love it when recruits feed their ego.

Be sure to tell your DS on day 1 that they should just give you the EGA on the spot, since you're to moto for this boot camp shit.

There are no DS at MCRD's.

If you get dropped/quit bootcamp, at least home is just down the street. Mom can come pick you up.

guy who raised his hand to that question in my flight ended up sweeping for the rest of BMT.

    bowling team = latrine queens
who's got chrome rims? = guys who cleaned the dorm chrome
who wants to be a pilot? = flight room technician (TI's personal bitch)

ive forgotten the rest, but i didnt raise my hand for anything and ended up cleaning the top of lockers...not bad at all, usually finished first n helped the others with their stuff.

but by all means, raise your hand for everything ;)

back in 03 at P.I. guys who's hair was already shaved, simply stood in the line where everyone else that was finished with thier haircuts stood. Its not a bad idea really. I don't know how they are now, but them fuckers in the barber shop are CRAZY rough. They are doing each recruit in under 10 seconds. There wasnt a single time that my head didnt bleed from them scraping so hard.

You should already be doing this, but I recommend to anyone preparing for basic to get used to running one mile more than the requirement (i.e. 3 miles for Army, 4 miles for Marines). You'll develop whatever muscles you need in basic, but if you can show up with your cardio ready for action then you'll be way ahead of the game. And if you're already running 3-4 miles regularly, you'll be less likely to develop stress fractures.
