I was 11.4 miles away, it was hazy and I am using a Nikon CP5700 @ full tele..still came out decent:

Just as it started to lift off...

About 10 seconds after lift off...we still hadn't heard any sound, but the view was spectacular.

About 30 seconds after lift off (I think), it came out through a few clouds, and we finally heard the deep, LOUD rumble.

The shuttle went into space, it did a corkscrew :mamoru:

All together, it was an incredible experience...

Thought this was a really cool picture..everyone enjoying the surreal moment together, no one thinking about anything else in the world except for what they're resting their eyes upon..truely a monumental occasion.

would have been perfect timing for some well placed explosives to go off reminding the world that they should always be on their guard, even when they take the time to stop and watch a space shuttle :o

watching the space shuttle take off is the only thing I haven't seen. When I lived on Edwards AFB, I used to watch it everytime it came in to land.

you haven't been on this forum long enough, hence i can understand you asking something as dumb as that.

  19. Why weren't there any people in boats watching it from the water?? :ugh: Seems like that'd be what everyone would do... Well where I live that'd be the case anyways... :dunno:

You're only allowed to get so close. Additionally, the water's like 2 or 3 inches deep in some areas- it's just a big marshy area with some deeper canals criscrossing it. It doesn't really get usable unless you're on the lagoon and river.

Those turned out nice, mine didnt. We tried driving from Orlando and I-4 was backed the F up. 80 miles in 3hrs. We ended up stopping on the Bee Line Express Way about 35 miles out, along with many others and just hit Cocoa Beach after that.

They are rather large, if I resize them you can see anything. My wife took them too so she didnt zoom or anything and you can see the adapter tube I have for my filters
