HOOOLY shit...that thing is freakin fast. Redlined 2nd and looked down to see I was going 70 mph! Here are my likes/dislikes for anyone interested:

    Likes:
    - Engine is torquey like a mother. Hardly ever have to downshift to go fast.
    - Engine is LOUD. Ls2 for the win. It just sounds like a monster and sent chills down my spine everytime I revved it.
    - Exhaust sounds awesome, but a loud burbling.
    - This is a definite muscle car, with its guts hanging out.
    - Seats are really nice, same with rear seats.

    Dislikes:
    - Shifter had the longest throw ever.
    - You sit way up high.
    - Interior is ho-hum
    - seats don't have much lateral support
    - Engine is lazy, slow revving, and likes to cruise at 1500 rpms.
    - It's a big car, and feels like one.
    - I discovered the car isn't a sports car, but more like a fast cruiser. It felt like a fast family sedan. Not necessary a bad thing, but surprising.

I didn't get a chance to try out its handling but it was pretty solid. Not sure how easy it is to toss around like a Honda though.

This is the weirdest debate ever, but I can't decide between an S2k and a GTO. I have driven the S2k thoroughly and love it, I have a lot of fun driving it. But the lack of torque is dissapointing. The GTO is not a good car in a sense that response for everything is lazy, nothing is crisp and precise about it's driving characteristics. But the power is always there and speed comes up FAST. I like it because it's different and I've never owned a V8.

Any way, that's my thoughts. Take it or leave it.

The GTO is a muscle car, not a frenzied buzzing sports car like the S2K. If you drive a Mustang GT and then drive a GTO the GTO will feel razor sharp.

Buy the S2K, try it for a year and sell it for almost as much as your bought it for. Then buy a year old GTO that already took a huge dump off the price tag and have your cake and smear it all over your supermodel girlfriend.

I think your opinions are a little skewed, coming from a honda :mamoru:

I had a good time reading that review. My impressions of the GTO were nearly the exact opposite in every respect. Amazing what a prior car has on your outlook.

I'd love to test drive a GTO :wackit:

I can imagine your predicament; you have raw power and lack the refinement on one end, but you have refinement with little power on the other.

No doubt. I'm all about Honda and have driven them for years. The complete difference in the GTO is what makes it so appealling. Seriously.

Btw both used can be had for low $20k which is what I'm planning on doing. Here's the cars that I recently drove on my quest for the next car I want to buy:

    - Ford LIghtning
    - Chevy Corvette
    - Nissan 350Z
    - Ford Mustang GT
    - Honda S2000
    - Pontiac GTO

dammit I need to drive a GTO. I drove one really briefly at the rev it up thing and it didn't leave a good impression, but how much can you learn in 30 seconds?

And what would you buy for $20k-$30k? Anything impress you for that price range?

My friend sat in the back seat. He said it was really comfy. He also noticed that the car hunkered down when I stepped on the car. The rear lowered significantly.

A friend convinced me to test drive one, said it was his dream car. It doesn't do it for me. I wouldn't want one as a DD.

Throw a hurst shifter on that bitch and it's all good. I don't get why everybody is so prissy about shifter feel. No matter how smooth your transmission or notchy you get used to it in a week and it's no longer an issue.

Freakin awesome. It was used and had aftermarket headers and exhaust. I loved it. The supercharger was real loud. I'm guessing the truck made about 400 hp, and 450 lb-fts of torque. I laid a fat chunk of rubber when flooring it. But it's automatic and I just can't live with one. Plus it's a Ford :mamoru:.
