i'm was thinking of trying to pull my first 315 tomorrow. I'm on the second week of 5/3/1, so my work set will be 210x3, 235x3, 265x3, 315x?
previous best was in october and 305x1

Get rid of your ego. Follow the prescribed percentages. The routine will stop working for you if you just make up the weights as you go.
Biggest problem with me following this routine.
just wait a few cycles when youre consitantly breaking PRs and you will feel better. I'd reccomend using his formula for 1rep max for all your last sets and recording them. Makes it easier to put a number out there for you to see progress
from my understanding, i thought he (Jim) says you can do whatever works for you after your work
if my first three lifts are done - isn't the rest just gravy?
