I started off with that model, but a few weeks later it grew into something nasty:

leave it under my bed. :o

only thing i plan on getting right now is a tacstar sidesaddle. if i really get into it, i might go all out like usmcsilver :hs:. i hope i don't because i'd like to get a sar-1 or another carry gun by summer.

    edit:

bad news, i just read that i would have to get a shorter fore end if i want the side saddle. apparently, the factory fore end is too long and won't allow the gun to cycle with the side saddle installed. :wtc:

    That is not true.

You can get the 4-shot saddle and keep your factory fore end. Tac Star makes the 4 shot, so don't fret. Go get it!!!

$200 :wtc: i'd rather use it toward purchasing another gun. plus this is gonna be under my bed most of the time so i'd feel guilty spending so much on it.

don't speedfeed stocks come with fore ends? was the one that came with yours shorter than the factory one?

I'd say their both on about the same level. Remington makes cheap guns.

I find that the Remington 870 and the Mossberg 500 are comparable. Neither one is more flash or function than the other, just a reliable shotgun for little cash.

Exactly, I'm not knocking either, but an 870 isn't really surperior to a 500. I have a Mossberg 835 that's been an excellent gun, especially considering I won it in a raffle. :bigthumb:

If you order the Speedfeed (I have the Tactical IV-s model) you have the option of buying just the stock or the whole set. The new fore end is indeed shorter and will allow you to get the 6-shell saddle.

 they say the only difference between the IV and IV-s is a shortened pulled (13"). what does this mean exactly? :dunno:

Shortened L.O.P. or length of pull. This is essentially stating how long the stock is. A longer stock is for people with longer arms; a shorter stock, well, for just the opposite. Have you ever seen cometition stocks with the adjustable butt part of the stock? This is to customize the rifle to suit their LOP.

Anyhow, I like the "S" model. If you measure what you have now, you will see that the "S" is about the same. The standard model is 14" which is too long for my 5'8" frame.

    thanks. check this out

    http://www.billdavislv.com/shotgun_products2.htm

if you scroll down some, they have a recoil plate that shortens it one more inch. i have pretty long arms so i'll probably stick with the 14" model.

I have the surefire on my 870. I noticed that it gets a little loose. Anyone else encounter this?

I have a Mossberg 500 and an 870 express magnum, and I find them to be equal, but I prefer the position of the safety on the Mossberg.
