i'm pretty excited. Finally had enough for a HD (all my others were full) so I put her together tonight. Had some difficulty with updating the bios and getting the sound to work but other then that everything works good.

nice.. i didn't even know there was a 64bit edition..
desktop full of setup files = :nono:

btw if your sound still doesn't work, try reinstalling drivers from Device Manager.. it should detect them automatically

    Holy shit.

Where do you live in the Bay Area exactly? Do you have a security system? Where is the computer located.

I can create a simple ram disk and load an entire game on it. Seriously...hahaha it's fucking crazy. I loaded the whole unreal tournament game onto my ram and I could load every level in under 2 seconds flat. It's rather fun. :wiggle:

    Retail:
    ~AMD Opteron 846 processor - $2500
    ~Low Level ECC Registered DDR333 - $350 per 1gb stick x 4 sticks $1400 (i know it's cheaper now)
    ~Asus SK8N Motherboard - $235
    ~ATI Radeon 9700 Pro - $300 (it's 8 months old)
    ~IBM 80gb ata/133 7200rpm hd - $80

    Actual:
    ~Amd Opteron 846 proc - $free
    ~Ram - $free
    Asus SK8N Motherboard - $260
    ATI Radeon 9700 pro - $300
    IBM 80gb ata/133 7200rpm hd - $80

I made out well. You can get the 200 or 100 series opteron chips for really cheap now and it's the same speed. the 800 series just means it can handle up to an 8 proc system which i'll of course never be able to do.
