went to the range the other week to compare the DAK trigger that was on my 229R to the standard DA/SA. Well, I ended up prefering the DA/SA to the DAK so we switched them out. The DA trigger pull is pretty heavy, at around 10 pounds, but I find it comfortable enough to shoot that i wouldn't hesitate to use it in a self defense situation. That being said, i found no use for the DAK system anymore.

oh yea, here's the obligatory pic! My dad let me use his D70 to take it, but i'm not very good so i'll get him to take some professional ones later.

Is the 229 grip significantly smaller than the 226? I've never fired a 229, but the 226 was perhaps the most comfortable pistol I've ever fired.

it's a bit smaller but i haven't handled a 226 for any significant amount of time so i can't really tell ya. it's a comfortable grip though.

nah, i found a dealer and a smith who switched them out for free as long as he could keep the DAK parts.

I'm looking into purchasing a p229 within the next month or so. I'd like to give both trigger systems a try before dropping the change on one. :hs:

stopped by the gunshop on the way to work today and picked up some hogue finger groove grips for it. They add a little width to the grip but are very comfortable to me. they look pretty cool too.
