yeah the whole DL squat and bench in one day is pretty exhausting. After the 2nd week it was a breeze though

its was easy the first time for me... until i got into it and wanted to put max effort into each lift, but the previous lifts usually killed me.

Hey can I get a link to Christophers routine......I just started a similar workout to what you all are describing....This is my first day and I am thinking about doing it ever Monday and Thursday with arms on Friday.....

    185x5
    225x5

    105x5
    110x5
    110x5

Bent over row with both grips front facing and rear facing....one minute rest in between and that is 5 front grip and then 5 rear grip for one set....
    135x5/5
    135x5/5
    135x5/5
    135x5/5

Steve O did you read I have a weak lower back.........I am working my way into doing squats....I can get on our hack squat machine and load it up with 18 45's = 810 for reps.....or sled for about the same weight....those are easier on my back......soooo hope that helps you out.....

I was wondering because it says it in the squats part of my layout.......The one thing I have to say is how retarded I look trying to do those seated DB shoulder press with just 45 pounds......When you are doing them with your grip facing you and your arms in front of you it is very hard for me.....I am hoping this routine will work for Monday, Wed, Friday and on Tues and Thursday I am going to concentrate on core strength and then cardio.....Sorry if I hi jacked the thread......

so you're doing this exact same routine 3x a week?

that's a lot of shoulder work

Yeah I know that is why I am using light weight......I am just starting this out so I will probably drop the incline DB press down to 100 max and work more on form and squeeze with a slower decent rate.....The seated 45 DB shoulder press isn't heavy at all.....With a standard grip I can do 75's for reps..... The way I am doing them now though is to hit more of the shoulder instead of incorporating a ton of tricep.....

If I stick with what is listed....I should be ok....That isn't really pushing it for me....My biggest problem is not having the forearm strength to hold DB's bigger than 120 comfortably....The squats I will probably stick to 225 all the way through on Wednesday and then back to 275 on Friday for my last set.... I won't go to heavy on the rows simply because my lower back isn't that strong, this is because i have neglected doing core excercises....If it is to much I will cut back to 5x5 instead of 5x8

and all this time I thought you actually injured your lower back. Why not get some deadlifts in your routine?

Because my lower back is weak....I am going to do 3 months of core excercises to make sure that I don't injure myself....I can lift heavy naturally so I don't feel like hurting myself....I think 3 months of core will be good enough....Besides I won't ever go above 315 on wide grip DL....

  22. ok so chrises routine is really complicated

Not really just follow the link and it will be painful though...

  24. and does this only add strength, or size too?

  25. SteveO

    SteveO Guest

I don't understand, you're not going to do deadlifts because you want to strengthen your core.. do some heavy rack pulls or something
