I'll just put it up here too I guess.

Well today at about 12:30 I was finally commissioned. Its been about 3.5 years since I first went into the recruiting office. I'm still in law school so I have 2 more years until I head off to The Basic School and then Naval Justice School after that. Here's some pics from the ceremony.

    Posting the colors

First salute. This Gnny. Sgt. has helped me out so much in the last few years. His last day at our office is tomorrow, then he is heading to Okinawa. A really great guy, I couldn't have had a better person be my first salute. Fr those new to the military, after the first salute the new officer gives the person who saluted him a silver dollar (don't have a picture of that)

    Just received the commissioning certificate

Feel free to ask any questions, I'll answer as best I can. Hopefully I got the pictures to load correctly.

congrats. now that your an officer dont think of yourself as being better than the enlisted personnel, something i see much too often. were all men. officers just happen to have a commision.

Yeah, my enlisted friends have told me over and over that the main thing they dislike about the officers is they have an attitude. Hopefully I'll be able to recognize if that ever develops and avoid it. I felt bad having my gunny salute me, so hopefully I'll keep that non-cocky type of attitude.

I've seen people commission with it, when I asked my OSO about it, he said it was a no go. I didn't really earn it so it doesn't bother me too much.

I think the actual material looks better on officer. I think the rank and tour stripes look pretty cool though on the enlisted blues.

    congrats Marine.

i worked with Marine officers for several years at Pensacola, and to a man i have never met more honorable men with whom i'd be proud to serve any day.

I commissioned with a ribbon for Expert Marksmanship. thats the only thing we CAN commission with. The only award I earned while in ROTC that transfers over to the real military.

i honestly don't know much about that one, just that i can wear it, which i think is bullshit because i haven't done a damned thing yet except for stay in the training command for over 2 years.

they give out way too many medals and ribbons nowadays.

you'll be amazed how much of that shit happens EVERY SINGLE DAY. my 2.5 years in the military so far have deeply challenged my faith that a marriage today can actually withstand the military.

Thanks. Just keep grinding through seniors and you'll get it soon enough.

As to the issue with the article that was posted. I've never really seen a female Marine hot enough to risk my career over. Is the lack of non-military females around bases so great that people find it necessary to take these risks? If so, I'm gonna have to start visiting OTAH a hell of a lot more.

which TBS class are you reporting to?

    EDIT:
Nevermind, I read your post in the other thread.

I went to OCS 2002 1st increment (India CO., forgot what plt.) and 2004 1st increment(Echo CO., 3rd plt.)

    Who was your staff?

Third time- Tirado (he left half way through), Rodriquez, Charkowski, Brittain (great staff)

funny thing - while i was at NAS pensacola, i met three female Marine officers that were absolutely gorgeous - not gorgoeous by military standards or "hot...for a Marine", but just drop dead gorgeous. one was a former Delta stewardess.

maybe it was just a fluke, but the Marines had hotter female officers than the other services while i was there
