I know I want an optic, but I never really paid any attention the the threads before cause I thought it would be forever before I got one. I'll go do some searching, but feel free to opinionate ;)

Wow... that sounds like an amazing woman. My ex was never able to pick something out like that on her own.
    to your wifey

She went to our family friend's gun shop. I think they helped her out a lot.

That's actually what I've been looking at.... I have no idea what I'm looking for yet, and it doesn't help that there're a dozen different models.

They're all basically the same, the only thing that really varies is night vision capability and battery type.

What kind of range, what discipline, and what are you shooting at?

Probably plink out to 200 or so, but mostly short range smaller varmints and hogs:naughty: And maybe eventually NV. Depends on how good I really did last week:rofl:

200 is more than doable with a red dot, but I can dig the flexability of the low powered variables.

Personal preference I suppose. To test out if you wife REAAAALLLY loves you, demand she buys you a S&B Short Dot. If she doesn't, you should butt stroke her, and trade her wedding ring for one out of spite. That's what I'd do anyways...

Sounds like a little more that what I need, but I'll look into it and drool a little anyways, just to be safe.

    Oh...

I just assumed that by the lack of Nudez!? comments above, it must have been well known that you were anchored to a burnt swamp rhino or something.

    Pleasantly surprised I am.... Bewbz?

And I'd still knock her in the face and take her ring if she wouldn't produce a Short Dot from her vagina.

EDIT** The short dot is just the top of the heap... For cheaper, look at the Triji Accu-Point, Millet DMS-1, NightForce, Leupie, and Meopta K-dot.

I doubt that I'll ever own NV (due to the great expense), but if I do than the likelihood of me having money to upgrade to an NV optic is probably pretty high. :)

I prefer the Eotechs that run on standard AA batteries. This is based entirely on my decision to have my replaceable gear (ie batteries, ammo, that sort of thing) be handily available at Wal-Mart and such places.

Hey douche canoe, that's my wife you're talking about. :wiggle:
I'm sure she'd buy me one if that's what I really wanted.

    1. She's a keeper and marrying her gets you one step closer to winning at life.

    2. EOTech 553. Runs on CR123 batteries, NV-compatible, built-in riser w/ ARMS locking levers so you don't need a separate mount, plus all the other EOTech benefits

  25. So far it's 5-2 in favor of the EOTech. They're both great sights, but I prefer the fact that the EOTech allows more light through, and you get the best of both worlds with a very small center dot and a larger ring. Also, the EOTech is made by an American company.

EDIT: I like that a broken EOTech will still function too.
