Keltec p3at .380 with +1 mag extension. bought some winchester sxt rounds for it. Shoots very nicely, i like the somewhat crisp recoil, bbought a cheap uncle mike's pocket holster for now and love it, drop it in your shorts pocket and your good to go.

A bit on the high side and wouldn't be my choice of ammo but it sure does disappear into a pocket nicely. After 100 rounds or more though my hand is usually sore for a couple days :big grin:

I love my P32, I do want to get a P3AT to compliment it.

Buy a Hougue grip for it. It's $8 and helps a TON. Just slip it on and trim the excess off the bottom and you're good to go.

what ammo do you suggest, i use ranger sxt in a .40 too. I shot some telephone books with corbon dpx as well. and when i tested both i know dangerous but whatever, the ranger went in deeper and also seemed to have a larger cavity. I have yet to test it with the p3at.

Probably the dpx if you insist on a jhp but I won't carry expanding ammo in it, the round just doesn't have enough umph to penetrate deeply enough and expand I don't think.

I don't know how you guys carry that shit in your pockets. I HATE heavy shit in my pockets, I don't even keep a little change in them. I'll stick with good holsters in IWBs.

just wait til you feel how lite the p3at is. its lighter than a pocket of spare change or a cell phone. if you carry your cell phone in your pocket, move the phone to your belt, put the p3at in your pocket, and voila!

I carry a knife in my pocket that weighs more than a P3AT :hsugh:

My pockets are full as it is. $10 IWB belt clip FTW. Can be put on the left or right. The gun completely disappears on my belt, even with a tucked in shirt (just cant it forward). All that is exposed is the clip itself.

once you feel how light the firearm is with a fully loaded mag, its lighter than a loaded 12 rnd mag of .40, you will understand how light it is. unloaded the p3at is lighter than my surefire g2

Yea i won't carry ball ammo for personal defense, i am too afraid of the one time it does fully penetrate and may hit an innocent bystander or someone i care about. even a .380 rnd isn't that small. and has some muzzle energy. i know not the best but better than nothing. and better than .22 or .25

Well one more ammo post then I promise to not say another word on it :big grin: Statistically most of your shots will miss anyway and those are the ones you need to worry about. By the time a flat nose .380 makes it through a person its not going to have much energy left in it anyway to do harm to a 2nd person, let alone the statistical probably of hitting another. Way more people get killed from underpenetrating rounds than hurt a bystander with overpenetration.

Anyway now that I got that out of my system :big grin: It is incredibly light, it makes my airweight jframe seem like a brick. You can very easily forget you have it in your pocket.

Some abrasive tape applied to the backstrap will keep it from climbing in your hand as you shoot if thats a problem for you. I found it helps me practice.

I'm sure it is light, but it's still shit in my pocket banging around my thighs. The smallest I'd really want to go is subcompact Glock 26/7/36 territory. Good enough to get a solid grip on, big enough calibers to bank your life on. I'm not knocking your choice of pistol, I'm opining that it isn't for me, as I can't really see a use/need for it.

for everyone saying the .380 isn't enough check out the new 9mm from kel-tec. only about 1/4 wider than the p3AT, 10 rnd capacity, and pretty small and light. I'll prolly get it if i ever choose to go for a summer carry gun.
