    Right now I have a Dell Dimension 4100 (1ghz, 384mb Ram).

I mostly just surf the internet, chat on AIM, and watch DVD's. Sometimes I edit photos and such with photoshop and I'm possibly planning on doing some light video editing. The Dell I have is way out dated  but it worked well for what I did with it. It was just kind of laggy and slow opening programs and multitasking.

I figured it was about time to upgrade and get something a little faster.

I purchased a Pentium D 805 Dual Core, Asus P5PE-VM Motherboard, and 1 GB of PC400 3200 Ram. I'm planning on using my old HD and video card from my dell to complete the new setup.

Have you got it setup yet? I'd probably go for a new power supply as well. I don't know about your computer but Dell makes some desktop PCs with proprietary wiring for their PSU to mobo plug and I have seen a non-dell motherboard actually catch on fire when connected to a proprietary dell PSU.

It seems pretty fast. Then again I'm used to 1ghz LOL.

I think I'll buy another stick of ram and have a total of 2GB.

I think I may also get another fan for the rear.
