So many decisions to make. I want to use this rifle for killing paper and deer. I was thinking of going with a 6.8 upper. What companies should i stay away from? I am going to get a LPK and stock for now. Not in a rush for the upper unless a good deal comes around.

IMO 6.5 > 6.8 in most regards. (from my research, no practical experience here. I ended up sticking with .223)

edit: changed qualifier to be more realistic. most regards, not "almost every regard". My bad for wording that poorly.

theres a few companies that are making sweet 6.8 uppers.stay away from bushmaster 6.8s though.the barrels arent rated for the higher pressure loads.what ever you go with, make sure the barrel is 1:11 SPC II or 1:12/DMR.
i said fukk it built my own.dd stripped upper with a woa/denny 16.1 spcII barrel
eta*i think rra is another to stay away from
    study up on these sites
    http://www.65grendel.com/
    http://68forums.com/
both are sweet platforms.just find the one that fits your needs

I was looking at building a 6.8 AR for quite a while. Something I could use for paper targets and occasional hunting. Decided to just build another 5.56 AR and get a bolt action rifle.... the right tool for the job and all that.

In my reading on 68forums, I did find many warnings about model1sales' 6.8 uppers/kits. They are using the older style chamber and a 9.5/1 twist which everyone was saying it's too fast and is detriment to accuracy and reliability (when combined with the older chamber style).

i was just looking at their site. I am in no rush, so I am just going to browse gunbroker and the EE until i see what i want. I am probably going to end up with 5.56 and buying a 308.. I have so much i want to get lately that there is no way my wife is going to go for it. :squint:
