holy shit, this beast is fast now
where did you get it, and how much??
i think the MB can only run 2GB max.
EDIT: nvm, you have a MBP - merry christmas / happy self-ownage.
I troll eBay often for really good deals on factory installed RAM.
A lot of times companies order a bunch of Macs, upgrade the RAM themselves and then have no need for whatever amount they came with originally.
Got me an extra 1GB for $30 off there. Now I'm rocking the 3.5gb in the G5.
I have list of things I need to get after Christmas... the top 2 are RAM, and a set of Shure e2g's... It's about time I spend some $$$ on myself...
is what i bought
I got another gig stick to bring me up to 2 gigs as well and its running a lot better. Sucks, you pretty much need to have 2 gigs on a MBP
I just got a BP 2.0 c2d with 1 gig of ram, will I see a big difference if I get another gig of ram?
I have 1gig in
I want another buut I would probably have to buy two 1 gig sticks because I think there are 2 512's in there
Only if you want to run the pro applications. 512meg is fine for web/mail/typical-pictures/typical-iMovie
You get more ram to get more serious Most of us here in the MacShack are serious users.
i do development so i need more ram
i run ms sql server and app testing so it is necessary
will i notice a big difference if i add more ram to my macbook? i would be going from 512mb to 1GB. i hear that you can't really run OS X to it's full potential on 512, amirite? I think i am going to buy it on wednesday
i only have one gig, but i have never had more than 512 so im like
i really don't do much in OSX. I noticed a big improvement in XP when I went to 2gb from 512, but then again i do more than your average person
does anybody with 2GB want to see how their computer runs with 1GB?
PM me and we'll trade.
1GB will feel much better if you do any sort of multi-tasking.
Just upgraded my powerbook to 2GB yesterday. zooooomin
I also ugraded from 512 to 2gb on my MBP.
if you guys are looking for a pretty good deal, go to CompUSA and pricematch PNY PC2-5300 memory with BBY for $89.99 + tax. CompUSA has $30 mail in rebates for these sticks potentially making them $59.99 + tax. (although it says only 1 rebate per sku per household, I bought 2 and I'm filling both rebates out with different addresses).
yeah, but I'd gladly pay twice that for a reputable vendor's certified value ram, and not worry about putting crap into my mbp
newegg has kingston 1GB sticks for $115, probably free shipping in there somewhere too
