so i just 'acquired' Final Cut Pro (only pro, and not the suite) for a little project i have. i have previously done some work in iMovie HD, and found that pretty easy and functional. Does anyone have tips for me in Final Cut Pro? Is there any reason, with my limited knowledge of FCP to use it over imovie? any help is appreciated.

hot, what stuff are you doing with Motion? I don't handle as much post-production as I'd like, I'm still learning. I stay mostly behind the camera :o

I'm a motions graphics designer for a marketing department in some corp job.
so anything from compositing stuff i do in Maya, to creating menu's for dvd's, doing illustrations/presentations/motion graphics...anything really.

I was a huge fan of After Effects, then when Motion 2.0 came out and i learned to use that, i've never looked back...

i need to highlight a person.. it is in a volleyball game, and the video was set up on a balcony. i need an clear oval around the person with everything else darkened around her. can someone help me? it would be nice if this could be faded in and out... or even move with the play if that is possible.

In case you don't get the response you need here, I highly, highly recommend Creative Cow for help with this kind of stuff.

    easy way:
    duplicate the video
put the darkned version on top of the normal one
make a mask on the darkened version to cut out the person you want to show up normal
move mask around to follow said person
fade the darkened version in and out as needed

 well explained. The more you use it, the more it's exactly like building stuff in Flash :bigthumb:
