do they make a pitcher that I can fill and put in the fridge? My roommates would probably break the thing on the faucet off

drinking tap water is probably safer, if you live in the US.

I also use a Brita pitcher that I keep in the fridge (my tap water is nasty. As in it comes out brown half of the time).

Works great - I can drink the stuff all day sometimes.

ehhhh, i think that's a sign where you shouldn't put that anywhere near your mouth, even when filtered.

I just installed a brita inline filter on the fridge water supply. I used to have a brita pitcher but I hated refilling it all the time.

That is what I had before. If you have a fridge with a water dispenser I highly recommend just getting an inline filter.

Eh, it's mainly rust thanks to being in a building thats 70-ish years old. Thankfully I don't get the full "brown effect" very often.

i have a pur filter that's kinda like the water cooler at work... you fill up the top part with tap water, put it on the base (not in the fridge... this one just plugs into the wall) and the water goes through the filters. you can dispense hot or cold water

pro: tap water goes in, filtered water comes out
    con: dispenses kinda slow
