First and foremost I am not asking about filling in my serial number for some tinfoil hat dumbass reason. I'm just talking about covering up the import stamps. I do not want to "highlight" them as some people do with trademarks. I want to fill it and then paint over it so it as if it was never there. Similar to mudding a screw hole in drywall.

Bondo seems like an obvious choice but I'm guessing the shock of the weapon firing would crack/flake it off in a hurry. JB weld and sanding? Anyone have any advice for this?

It's an AK, why does it matter if there are import marks

I have a lot of free time and this is a constructive and cheap waste of that free time.

JB weld and sanding would seem like it would work pretty well, of course you would need to refinish it though.

Personally I wouldnt even fuck with it.

My machinest buddy has a coke can that he cut in two, then Tig'd back together. Shit holds water, and sets on his desktop. My mind nearly asploded when he showed it to me.

Precision welding and machine stuff is soooooooo cool.

We both grew up on farms 15min from each other, but he definitely got all the cool skills outta the deal. He's a fucking freak when it comes to being mechanically inclined. His boss (owner of the machine shop) used to specialize in precision welding, and some of the stuff I've heard/seen him do is so awesome. He tried helping me out, but my stuff still looks like a gargoyle took a taco bell shit all over the metal, and I burn the hell outta everything I touch.:wtc:

    I'm a bad man with a Sawzall though ;)

I love TIG and for those of you who are not versed in welding acronyms it is Tungsten Inert Gas welding, a very clean kick ass welding system that is very good for gun smithing as well as other precission welding needs. I've welded some 0.025 wall tubing before with this process. But I don't know that I'd want to put that much heat into a reciver to fill in some import marks.
