my WD passport is 150gb. i have about 96 gigs free. I'm trying to copy a 8 gig file into the hardrive but it keeps saying that the file is too large.

    What am I doing wrong?:hsd:

8GB is larger than the file system of the drive.

I expect its formatted with FAT32, whose volume limit is 4GB iirc. You need to split the file up (I'd RAR it if it was for long term storage) or format the drive to NTFS.
