When I start up my PC, it says that one of my disks needs to be checked for consistency. Then it goes on to check the disk with 3 stages. It gets up to CHKDSK is verifying indexes (stage 2) and that's it?
    What do I do? Help!

Coule be a failing hard drive... go the manfacturer of that hard drive's website. Most manufacturers provide diagnostic utilities that you can run on your drive, usually by creating a CD or floppy and booting off it. You should be able to bypass that chkdsk by hitting escape before the test process actually begins.
