I've noticed that OSX handles file extensions weird. I do a lot of wav and mp3 editing and sometimes it shows the extension and sometimes it doesn't, regardless if I have 'show extensions' turned on in Finder preferences.

I have a few OCDs with certain things, so I have a habit of going in and editing out the extensions that show when I have 'show extensions' turned off. Could this cause any problems? OSX sees the file as the correct filetype.
