What codecs do you need to have enabled in FFDShow so DVD's play in Windows Media Player? I'm getting audio but no video from my DVD.

I must use Windows Media Player 11 specifically for this. I've installed the Vista Codec Package (on XP!) which comes with FFDShow and everything is default. I can play videos but not from DVDs. Only the audio comes. I've also tried CCCP. When I go to the video decoder configuration in FFDShow, MPEG-2 is disabled, and if I enable it as libavcodec, the DVD tick box under it says its not currently working.

Graphics drivers are updated on the 7800 GT.

I don't get the part about "I must use Windows Media Player 11 specifically for this".

Why is it necessary that you use windows media player 11?

I use the klite codec pack with media player classic for everything.

Thanks. Does that mean you don't need a third-party decoder for playing DVDs in Vista?

I've had to use MP Classic and it's working in there. The problem is happening on XP - doesn't playing in the actual WMP. I want to get it working in WMP too. That XP decoder checker says the MPEG-2 decoder is present.

I can hear sound, but not the video. On my other PC which is on Vista with the same codec package, it plays fine. On XP's WMP it doesn't.

It's supposed to. But I have Vista Ultimate and it didn't work. Installed KLite codec pack and it works fine now (same as XP).

Hmm same here. Installed Vista Codec Package on Vista and it started working. On XP, tried k-lite, Vista Codec Package and CCCP but they don't play DVDs in WMP. Using MP Classic but want WMP to work.
