Was basically just going out to shoot something different, and try to learn some more. As soon as the camera and lens came out the backpack, parents came running asking to buy pictures.
I was caught off guard and told them I really didnt have any "packages" to sell them, or any sample pics to show them. But I said Id take a few and print them out to show them tomorrow(it was practice the day befor the game) and come up with a package for them to purchase.

Well, I shot a few pics, went home and put together a couple collages and portrait pics in fotofusion, and printed out a few 12x12's to put in the picture album to show them.

Well, that thing got passed around the stands like a drunk, passed out Jessica Alba at a frat party. Befor I knew it(literally like maybe 30 minutes), I had 30 signatures and 30 payments all in advance :eek3:.

Coaches/umpire let me stand just about anywhere on the field, but I was still a little photographer shy and didn't really get out of the batting box :hs:

Games lasted until like 7pm...it was dark and the 70-200 2.8 REALLY saved me...even with really high ISO, it was a tuff one trying to have a high enough shutter speed to stop the action.

Since then(about 3-4 weeks ago), ive been getting calls all the time of parents wanting me to come to their kids game and take pictures. And, as soon as I get there and let the album get passed around again, I'd have 5-10 more payments

Well, here are a few sample pics. All pics resized and saved to 50% quality ....on 56k now....

This was shot with the homemade reflector. A foam board with aluminum foil on it :mamoru: As you can see from the background, the shadows were long and hard:)naughty:), it was about 5pm. The reflector really filled in here face.(no flash)

yep, I charged $50 for the package i had and the parents said it was a really good price. Cost me about $10 for paper/ink to print them myself on my large format printer. So it paid off really well.

And yeah, moms went crazy for the simple collages.

So you just walked up to a kid's baseball game and started shooting?

I've always wanted to do this, but haven't out of fear of looking like a pedophile. Did anyone give you any grief?

yep, just walked up. Everyone thought I was a professional. Apparently someone had come to do it last year and did a shit job and charged alot, so they were ecstatic when they saw someone else there.

No grief, as soon as I showed them some of the samples like posted above, they loved me

all the collages were done with fotofusion(i fucking LOVE this program).
    http://www.lumapix.com/
Look at the video that plays on the page, it really is that simple to do things.

The baseball card was done with CS3.

these are just a small sample, I have many many other completely different collages and templates that the other parents got.

I took a small note about what colors/layout they wanted, some gave suggestions, most said do whatever you like :)

i know someone that does this, and has expanded to all types of grade school sports. lucrative business, especially in the suburbs. he eventually joined a crew where a couple of photog get calls from schools/coaches/parents to cover multiple games every weekend.. and they keep all the print package earnings

Shots are awesome. And the collage and with the post-processing is what really sets it apart.

    Well done!

I just did a little League baseball game and wish I had spent more time to do a collage like this now.
