Went out to Miller Motorsports Park today out here in Utah and saw some clunker of cars. 2nd Venue for Ferrari Challenge and they brought out the FXX and 599FX as well...not a bad day. Unfortunately it was windy as hell and miserable, but the sights and sounds made up for it. This is my first real attempt at Motorsports and my access was just general admission, so nothing great, but had a blast and want to shoot more cars for sure.

Thanks for all the comments guys...any more C&C on these? It was fun shooting a different subject not to mention they're badass cars. Waiting for vwpilot to come in here and tear me a new one since he was helping me with my panning technique or lack thereof.

Used mainly my 70-200mm and 3D Tracking, which turned out fairly well IMO.

What's said is after the FXX and 599FX runs would end, the Ferrari Challenge cars would come out and I didn't really care...the FXX and 599FX are ridiculous cars. They originally were supposed to have a bunch of vintage Ferraris and Maseratis, that obviously didn't make it and also some F1 Cliente cars, which I was hoping to see.

The cool thing about the 599FX is that it's only being raced in Homestead (which I think already happened) and in little Utah as far as the states is concerned. Cool shit.

    #8 is my favorite

but... i find the green blur in the background a little distracting and i would crop out the guardrail at the bottom

Thanks, this panning shot was probably my sharpest of all and at 1/80th as opposed to 1/200th on a lot of other shots. Tight tight frame...no crop on this one so got it just right as far as composition was concerned.

BTW, if you non-Ferrari gurus didn't notice, the shot of the engine bay is from the 458 Italia...I'll post up some more pics, but they're cluttered with people.

Apparently it's the first time the 458 has been on US grounds, or at least available to the public. I LOVE the F430 but damn, the 458 made everything look like Buicks.

if you decide to edit #8, i'd love to have a new wallpaper... or if you don't plan on editing it, as it is would be sweet too.

did they take the 458 on the track at all or was it just there to sit and look pretty?

They're pretty good. You know your 430 shot is the best as the shutter speed is the most dramatic, but the others are ok too.

But think about using more of the track and the mountains and not focus just on the cars. Utah is a great track with some great backgrounds, dont forget about them.

For sheezy, give me a bit and I'll post it up for your consumption. Unfortunately they didn't track the 458 at all, I guess it was a big deal that the car was there, I had no idea other than the 458 looks amazing in person.

Great points...I was so obsessed with getting decent panning shots that I put the majority of my focus on the cars. Will definitely remember...surprisingly for the section we were on my 70-200mm was sufficient but brought a slow 150-500mm Sigma which obviously was handy.
