Romanian WASR-10. The receiver has been milled out to take a double stack, but not a single round will chamber, they just strike next to the chamber and hold the bolt open.

Anyways I'm assuming its a feeding problem related to the magazine, so who recommends what country of magazines (and who has the best deal on them.)

In case it is some other problem I am over looking another problem here are a couple pictures of said problem.

Are you feeding hollow points? I know some rifles don't like them but there aren't too many.

Try pulling the bolt back and letting it go, don't ride it forward.

AIM has a pretty good deal on AK mags right now. Copes Distributing also has decent prices.

Its a metal mag, buti t looks like it has seen better days, so I'll try replacing to and see what happens.

I wish it was something as simple as me being an idiot and riding the bolt.

as for hollow point, well its crappy wolf stuff, but I guess it is hollow point.

Can you get a photo of a full mag in with the top cover and bolt carrier out?

I can't really see anything out of the ordinary. First I'd definitely try a different mag though. So they are going on the side of the chamber? I have a feeling it is the magazine. I really doubt it is the ammo if it's hitting the side of the chamber.

If you don't mind dicking around with the magazine you have, try and widen up these areas in red with a pair of pliers. Just bend a tiny bit at a time and keep checking to see if it's helping.

I left my pair of calipers at a friends house  so the best I can tell you is 22.5mm from inside edge to inside edge.

I'll try that, it makes sense, since they are hitting the side of the chamber opposite of the side of the magazine they are loaded in. Thanks.

Yeah, sounds like it's the mag.

Oh and BTW, the Wolf hollow point is good stuff. It is a great hunting self or defense round.

I'm gonna have to get some more, I've had other problems with the AK and sold off most of the ammo I had for it. I've been on a gun buying/fixing run recently, which reminds me I need to send an email about my AR lower tomorrow.

Oh one other question, from this little problem I have a few wolf rounds with some nasty set back, how does one go about disposing of live, but unsafe to fire rounds?

I just ordered a new mag, but I found what was causing the problem the lips of the magazine don't allow the bullet to pop up at the correct angle to feed into the chamber. A little bending and a little filing has gotten from a 100% failure rate to about a 50% failure rate on this mag and I'll keep working on it. Some bullets still hit the wrong place and some simple don't seat completely forward and you have to tap the bolt.

After you fix the mag keep it around for the range/plinking, but I wouldn't trust it in any sort of home defense/tactical situation.

Yeah I know it wouldn't be trusted until there were a good number of rounds down range. I ordered a replacement as well as an AR mag and a scope today so I thought I would see if I could fix it.

Its not really in the rotation to be a defensive gun, I've got a 12 ga pump with 00 buck and a 357 snub nose as the primary too that stay out, then there is a 1911 with a loaded magazine in the gun room. If I ever have to dump 5 shots of 357, 5 shots of 00 and 8 shots of 45 I should have moved long before.

Oh yeah and there is a BB gun by the back door for the damn squirrels.
