PRIDE FIGHTING and its reigning heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko have come to terms on a contract extension. Widely considered among the sport's top champions in any weight class, Emelianenko is coming off of a title defense against top contender Mark Hunt at the December 31st Shockwave event.

Said Emelianenko, "I am happy to continue my career in PRIDE and look forward to adding to my unbeaten streak as champion … PRIDE features the world's best fighters and I only look to fight the very best competition."

I suppose Fedor has more interesting fights in PRIDE than Mirko does in UFC. I'm sad we won't get to see the 2 of them square off again any time soon...

I dunno, some how I think this fight is going to happen soon. It has to happen. :noes: It will be the biggest money maker of the year for the sport, espeacially after crocop gets exposed in UFC to more American fans.

100% agree, that was a great fight to watch the 1st time around, would have been nice to see them do it a few more times. oh well, maybe dana will allow a ufc vs pride thing now that he has a HW that can actually hold his own,,,,,oh well dana probably won't ever allow it but i can dream

I wonder if it's a multi-fight extension or simply another 1 sign contract :dunno:

I've only ever seen one of Monson's fight and his technique was impressive, but his opponent was bullshit. How do y'all really think Monson will do against Fedor?

Then why is he even getting a shot at Fedor? From what I understand - and perhaps I'm misinformed - he's a formidable force when it comes to the ground game.
