Was wondering if any of you guys have tried this yet, it's supposed to be the new big shit in LE ammo, better than Ranger. I saw a couple reports that different agencies did and it outperformed Ranger T in nearly every area. It was the only 9mm to go through a windshield and expand correctly without jacket seperation too. The expansion #'s are pretty impressive for all calibers.

I ordered 200 rounds of 124gr +p for the G19, I'll see how it does. It's priced better than Ranger, I only paid $14/50 rounds.

When it comes to ammo, get a name brand hollowpoint that functions 100% in your gun. THAT is what really counts.
You can have ammo that claims it's 1000 times better than any other brand out there but if it jams in your gun, it's worth jack shit.

I've read pretty good stuff about it. I still carry black hills 230 +p though cuz I'm too lazy to order ammo over the internet :wtc:

Gold dot sack rider here. I've carried rangers too though. I guess I'll see how the XD likes HSTs.

The HST line seems to be an excellent performer with regards to expansion. I'm personally sticking with RA9T though. I've tested my guns with RA9T and see nothing exceptional about the 9mm HST loads. I've also seem some results with the 147gr HST load expanding to like .9" but failing to penetrate 12" on bare gelatin. On clothed gelatin it usually pulls it back in to about the same expansion and penetration as the RA9T. I like expansion but 14" of penetration makes me alot more comfortable if I can get it. I'm not sure if the HST round in 9mm doesn't trade in too much penetration for expansion in some settings for my comfort. I just don't think 9mm has enough oomph behind it to get 1" expansion and sufficient penetration at the same time. I'm personally not all that worried about performance through automobile glass but the slower 147gr ranger makes it less of a concern than the +P rounds. I believe the HST tests I've seen use FBI protocol for cloth tests and not IWBA which might make it appear a bit better than it is.

The HST is a good performer for sure. It is certainly not miracle ammo and I wouldn't be in any big rush to dump what I have to switch to it.

Wow not only is it a phonebook test but theres no diameters listed just pictures. Thats crap for a test when we're talking about differences that ammount to tenths of a inch.

Ammoman only has it in .40. Federal only makes it in 230gr in .45 either standard or +p.

It's hard to find right now, the demand for it is pretty high from LE contracts because it's cheaper than Ranger. :hsd:

If it's high quality AND cheap then I'll be buying some. It's hard to get a decent amount stocked up when decent hollow points cost damn near $1 a round :hs:
