I've been considering picking up a pocket knife for a while since while I can't carry a firearm in illinois, I can carrry a pocket knife of unlimited size. I however have no idea what to get. I'm looking right now at http://www.themartialist.com/0803/cudamaxx.htm but its certainly pushing the upper limit of comfortable size and I'm open to suggestions.

    Microtech HALO 3.

The most badass knife ever made, automatic OTF.

I bought one yesterday week, I hope it comes before I ship next week, or else i'll have to wait a while before I can play with it :(.

I always thought the size of the Cold Steel Vaquero Grande would be pretty funny. I have to say the SOG Flash 2 scared a lot of people with its shiny blade and assisted opening, thats actually why I had to stop carrying it when visiting clients. If you have a lot of money you could also look at a Microtech.

No HALO then, what about assisted opening or bali songs?

Assisted opening is fine, I don't see a bali song as being useful to me.

If you are looking for something scary size-wise then get a bowie knife.

I find a good sized kinfe with assisted opening can be pretty cool/scary
I like my benchmade, although I cant seem to find it right now

If a bowie knife is a pocket knife for you, you are a scarily large man ;)

I  my Puma bowie. I paid $100 for it 2 years ago, however I think SG has the same model as mine on sale now for $70.
All but 1/2 of the handle fits in my pocket ;)

If you are considering a fixed blade I really like the style of the Benchmade 155

I think if I was working EMS or police I'd want a combo blade for seat-belts and the like.
