You don't really need recipes for salad...just throw whatever sounds good in there. My fav is romaine, black olives (sometimes green), reduced fat feta (sometimes flavored), and then some bernsteins dressing. Good shit, but kinda lacking on the protein probably, I could throw some grilled chicken in their too though.

So many options for salads. I like taco salad, grilled chicken salad, chef salad, cobb salad. I usually just start with the staples of romaine lettuce, some roma tomatoes, black olives, bell peppers, some onion, some cheese and then go from there. I'll add grilled chicken for protien or lean grilled steak or cottage cheese or some diced hard boiled eggs. Salads are great because you can pretty much do whatever you want and put in what you need for that particular meal.

    Eating out wise:

    Chipotle Salad w/ double meat

Chili's Buffalo chicken salad, grilled chicken and low-fat ranch.

    Making at home:

I get lazy with making home salads. I usually just throw a bag of romain in a huge bowl with low fat italian, slices black olives, a few slices of low fat mozzarella, and either some chicken breast or tuna. Not that filling, but it gets the job done late at night when I don't have much room for a high calorie meal.

my favorite salad isn't really a traditional salad...

    built from the bottom up:
2 leaves of green lettuce, shredded
    2 tins of tuna
    a little ranch dressing
    buffalo wing hot sauce
    diced tomato
    diced hard boiled egg
    diced fresh pineapple
    pepper

    mix & eat

I'm a cook at a pretty classy place and all I did for 2 fuckin years was make salads :( Personal favorite was the Rouge Salad

Spinach, Bleu Cheese, some heirloom apples, sundried cherries, toasted hazelnuts and red-rasperry vin.

Vin = 1C white balsamic vinegar
    3C oil
    salt and pepper to taste
maybe 1/2T honey and some red raspberry puree to flavor it.

Hoodoo that sounds so good...I wonder where I can get sundried cherries...
I ended up making the salad from bhg.com Friday night and it was tasty! I def. recommend checking out the recipes on that site. Saturday I went to Coastal Flats (don't know if that is just a regional chain) and had the best grilled chicken salad - yum!! I'm trying to get it out of my head that salads are just boring and healthy haha...Thanks for all of your creative salad ideas...

    Spinach - 2 cups
    broccoli - 1 cup
    green/red/yellow peppers - 1/4 cup diced
    green onions - 2 sliced
light feta (if at all) - small cube crumbled
    grilled chicken or roasted chicken
    balsamic vinegrette.

I could eat that for days. Balsamic vinegrette FTW.
