Are you looking for used guns or brand new ones? I'd suggest a Kimber Custom TLE/RL II, or perhaps a Springfield MC Operator. BTW rails are the new hotness for 1911s :) But if you're looking for just a decent 1911s any of the loaded versions from Springfield are very nice.

Kimber. i've shot an SA Loaded 1911. i've shot a kimber I, and a TLE/RL II. prefer the I over the II, and both FAR over the SA. the I has a slightly better trigger than the II, because of the hammer block mechanism of the II's.

I've got a Custom TLE II, never shot the first gen but I've heard good things about them. Personally I prefer my loaded Springy operator over the Kimber though. The trigger just feels really blah on it, but try them both out and see which one you actually prefer. Because its personal preference in the end, but I do believe the Kimbers are made a bit better. I've been changing out parts on my operator since the day that I bought it :noes: but its still one of my favorite guns.

PS. I'm glad we don't have any grammer nazis in the WMD, because I think I'd be told to go back to 3rd grade (Instead I'm starting my first year of med-school in January :hsd: )

The only 1911 I have shot was my dad's Para Ordnance, and I loved it. I was more accurate with that than my Sig P226 9mm.

I have shot both good and bad models from Kimber, Springfield, Colt, and Para so a brand name really doesn't guarantee quality. Best thing is to try different models to find one that YOU like and feel comfortable with.
I am keeping my eye on the BUL M5 line now. With a 17 round .40 and a 19 round 9mm coming soon, those may be the hot item. (Although it will be mute if they don't accept an ambi safety)

My dad gave me his colt officer's. I didn't like it at first, but since its the only handgun I have I've been shooting it a lot. I like it just fine now.:dunno: It conceals pretty well also .

So you can have an older used Pistol with loose "battle" tolerances? Just wondering.... Myself I've got a $300 RIA that I love. Done a few things like beavertail/hammer, trigger, grips and it's now exactly what I want. Besides the night sites which will come after tax returns.

    I have two...

    1. Les Baer 1911 Premier II
    2. Springfield Armory Full Size in parkerized finish

Both have been great, but the Springfield needed about $600 of work to almost get it to where the Les Baer is. I have had a couple of classes (shot over 1300 rounds) with the Les Baer and have NEVER had a problem, it is still a tight fitting gun.
