I think this would be a great matchup as both are extremely powerfull. A great wrestler vs a great BJJ practioner both with mediocre standup but KO power.

I would give it to Gonzanga by sub in the end, or perhaps TKO as he has the power and technique to take down and mount Lesner.

I would like to see either of these guys demolish Kongo shortly after.

Gonzaga would gas and eat canned ham.

I dont know how much of a fantasy that is. I have read a few articles hinting at Gonzaga or Kongo being next for Lesner

  4. I was thinking of this fight earlier. I don't think Gonzaga is strong-willed enough to last in there, but it would be interesting. Lesnar couldn't take it to the ground if he wanted to win (he'd get subbed very quickly), so he'd have to stand up.

I'd like to see it because Lesnar would have to take some shots.

Gonzaga we know can't take punishment, so lesnar could probably work him over.

Gonzaga's only shot would be a sub from the bottom.

Or an out of the blue head kick :)

  7. Gonzaga hits very hard. Can lesnar take those shots?

I don't doubt for a minute that Gonzaga has the ability to sweep lesnar.

I want to see if Lesner can take a shot. My gut says he has a granite chin, but I doubt he has ever had it tested in his lifetime.

I still think Gonzanga would sub him.

  9. I'll say right now that I don't think lesnar will ever get stretched out. Hurt/stopped with strikes is a possibility.

I have a theory that he's like Bob Sapp, where they're too muscled and have too little of a neck for their heads to get the needed whip effect for a real concussion, so you're just going to have to hit him so hard he pusses out and quits.

I think Gonzaga takes this match by sub right now. Give Lesnar another year or two to work on submission defense and he'll steamroll Gonzaga.

Yeah I started thinking about this after the Herring fight. Kongo is a possibility but I think his striking is too much for Lesnar and Dana doesn't want to see a TKO loss on Lesnar's record when he's just started to gain steam in the UFC.

Gonzaga is closer to Lesnar on the feet and I think he's strong enough to get a sub on the ground but if Lesnar holds him down I think we'll see a 3 round decisionn again.

Lesnar could take Congo easily. We saw what Carmelo did to Congo and Brock is twice the wrestler Marrero is.
Gonzaga on the other hand is a 50/50. He can't really take punishment that well but i beleive he could sub Lesnar eventually.

  14. couldn't fight on the ground with gonzaga

    changed to "shouldn't"

Gonzaga's been working his wrestling lately...looks a lot better and his gas seems to be improving too. I give it to him now.

    +1

While I think Gonzaga is better fighter at this point in their careers... he has shown that he runs out of gas fast and pretty much gives up as soon as he has to deal with adversity in a fight.

  17. gonzaga's wrestling is immaterial as far as I'm concerned for this fight.

  18. I think it's a lot more to do with adversity and handling punishment than it is gas.

agreed, when you have someone like lesnar, his wrestling and strength will pretty much overpower anyone else in the UFC and nullify their wrestling.

    .

getting hit in the nose has proven twice in a row to take the fight 100% out of him. Kind of a shame.

No idea who would win, but it would be a brilliant match up.

    KNOCK KNOCK! LOL!
Gonzaga will land a kick that will make Lesnar realize that getting hit hurts, in his paniced state, he will take gonzaga down, where he will promptly get outworked for a couple of minutes, resulting in an submission of Lesnar in some fashion.

I think Lesner may have the same reaction the first time he actually gets hit square in the face. A Gonzanga liver kick could ruin any HW if you ask me, so thats another option.

Lesner would absolutely ruin Kongo via ground and pound.
