Character customization is alright. The graphics aren't the greatest, but they're not completely horrible either.

The game starts off with your first weapon being an axe and you have to escape from a facility. Hacking shit up with an axe is fun and you can aim and run all over the place when you fight. I had alot of fun.

I didn't get to play much last night, because my computer was freezing and crashing all over the place with this game, but what little I did play was fun.

The game reminds me of Fallout 3 with less intense graphics. It's a post-apocalypic setting.

    Update:

Early access started yesterday and runs though until September 22. My character's name is Daria. I started off in the 'Rifle' crafter town of South Burb if anyone wants to join me.

I'm in the open beta but just did the tutorial then quit out. I was kinda fed up with the controls :o

but I am probably going to give it another shot since it looks like champions online isn't what I was hoping

but lets be real for a second. an expertly done fallout3-esque mmorpg would be epic.

Look at it this way. Try everything. It's free. You have nothing to lose. Dicking around with new games is always entertaining.

I didn't get very far. I didn't even escape the facility yet.

But I'll help with whatever I can. My character's name is Taryn.

I won't be on until at least 9PM tonight though

I absolutely loved planetside and there hasn't been anything similar to it at all that has come out except maybe huxley, but it looks wayyy to much like UT3 for me :wtc:

The gameplay looks really good from all the videos I've watched. Bad thing is that its been in development for so long that the engine will look dated by the time it actually goes live.

I'd still play planetside if people still played it and if updates were still coming out :o so graphics arn't a deal breaker

the mmofps genre is incredibly awesome, fun, and ripe and open for new development

I can only name 2 true mmofps without instances and all that dumb shit

ww2 online is like the zombie of videogames.

It started life barely alive and died and now it's back stronger than ever.

I've been playing it on and off for 4 years now and it gets better everytime I come back.

The playerbase is crazy hardcore though that's also why it won't die.

it's not meant to play like a twitch FPS but once you get past that it's epic once you join a good squad.

You are talking to someone who played with the best german sniper at the time and this was way before scoped rifles were introduced

Surprised there aren't more active posters for this game?

I've been playing it for over a day now and it's really good but I find it hard to believe this is open beta phase already.

it's got a hell of a lot of bugs and feels so clumsy.

It has LOTS of potential but I think a issue this game is going to have to contend with is half the player base is already comparing it to SWG 2003-2004 and that's going to hurt them.

It's fun though but damn if its awkward mounting unmounting mounting unmounting...

Yeah I am hella addicted to this game now. I went with the starter crafting town and I love how you can start the crafing and just run around and do other quests while you wait for it to finish. And all the different stuff you can craft and how you can scavenge all sorts of different things all over the place is super fun. Like going into the mine and killing mutant ants to get to copper so you can make weapons...so much fun. It really feels like a good post-apocalypic game.

Yeah I agree that the game is very buggy, but I haven't seen anything game breaking...yet

I love the atmosphere of this game. It's something fresh and new. The other MMOs I've played have either been sci-fi, comic-book, or fantasy, and of course the movie-based ones like The Matrix Online and SWG.

I am really liking this setting.

there is a learning curve, for sure.

It definitely needs more preparation than just, go run out there and start killing shit now.

Some people prefer to just get at the killing ASAP, so I can see how some people would be unhappy with this.

I find it fun to be able to strategize and plan my combat techniques.

At the same time, when I first started the game, I got alot of kill quests for things that were level 4, then later got alot of quests for level 1&2 stuff. I think it would be alot more user-friendly to not have those level 4 quests available right away. It discourages people if they try get killed, especially so early on in the game.

Still playing pretty heavily. Melée is op I'm easily pwning everything with dual knives. Finally started using the auction house and got my guy geared properly. I'm just worried though reading the official forums apparently there is no end game content at least not yet. And pvp is not a focus but there is pvp in designated areas but since you have radar your dreams of sniping are dashed.

Another thing I noticed is social interaction is severly lacking. Maybe it's because I'm an older guy now but I swear not a single person has done /say xxx AT ALL. New gen gamers are way too achievment powergrind orientated.
No time to dick around and say what's up. Everytime I see someone out in the field I immediately do /handstand Like an attention whoring op and they just run past to get a node or mob and ignore. It's a beta all your sht will go poof in three weeks go ahead and slow down :o
