He still has a horrible senate record on guns.

    • Ok for states & cities to determine local gun laws. (Apr 2008)
    • FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008)
    • Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008)
    • Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing. (Jan 2008)
    • 2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month. (Oct 2007)
    • Concealed carry OK for retired police officers. (Aug 2007)
    • Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007)
    • Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006)
    • Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban. (Oct 2004)
    • Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998)
    • Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005)

Not everyone here is really conservative. gun rights is just one issue.

Just like that's one reason I won't vote for him.

Gun rights is one issue right? So you would put your right of owning a particular type of gun over the good of your country - dosn't sound very patriotic to me...

From an outsiders viewpoint I cant beleive you guys want to vote in the same government that has just stuffed you out of 1 trillion dollars, placed you into several pointless wars ect...We dont get it over here in Aus. kthkxbye.

me owning guns is for the good of the country. it keeps the country in line... a ballot from the rooftops says more than a ballot in the box.

not saying that I plan on voting from any rooftops in the near future. i need to hide my dog now.

I hear what you are saying and believe me I am a gun advocate too - but I would rather not have the ability to own elevnty billion assault rifles over having a stuffed economy and living in a mud hut.

We still have guns - I own several. There is just limits on the types of guns you can own. They went too far, yes, but unarmed no.

We can have just about any handgun we want (but have to go to the range 6 times per year or you lose your license). In terms of longarms we are only allowed bolt action, lever action or pump and limited to a 10 rnd magazine. (and you ahve to go to the range 4 times per year to keep it) I.e. Semi-automatic rifles are banned. Its crap I agree but better than nothing.

The only point I was trying to make was look at the bigger picture - I would have thought a trillion dollar economy bailout was a more important issue than some guy who may or may not ban certain types of guns but thats just me.

actually it was bill clinton that changed the laws and regulations to make home buying easier for people that really had no business buying homes, which led to subprime mortgages

Fair enough - I agree with a lot of what you are saying. I (and just about 99% of all Aus) just dont want to see the US fall down (and its headed that way quickly if you believe the media). The alternative is China. No thanks.
