for those that don't know, Chris is coming back after a forearm fracture attempting a 700lb bench last year. He's been training smart and is slowly getting back into the game. Just hit a solid 440.

    Nice bench Chris!

I think you had more in ya, too... that 3rd attempt was a little out of the groove.

Thanks guys, I'm glad to be working back with some reasonable weights. I can't wait to move some big weight in 2008. The meet was in Manchester, NH. I live in South Berwick, ME and train at Vision Fitness in Portsmouth NH.

Thank you Sean. You're right. I brought the bar an inch, maybe an inch and a half too low. 440 the hard way! lol. Shirt habits are hard to break.

how do you normally train? do you follow westside principles or your own thing?
for me especially, i do bench twice a week, and my second day is alot of high reps, and its been helping me.

I used WS to get to 500, followed Vin Dizenzo to get to 650, did my own thing to get to 700 (gym), and have been doing my own thing since the injury. Right now I bench once per week, and do shoulder work on a second day. I have no problem with benching 2x per week, but I'm a very explosive lifter so I don't usually get much out of speed work. I may return to doing speed work in the future but right now I don't have any need for it.

i don't need speed work either. My second day is filled with high rep (20-25 reps of 225 and up), and it has been helping me.

    link to vin dizenzo's plan?:x:

was the injury bench or gym related or outside of it , if you don't mind me asking. Good job comming back strong. When I tore appart my wrist and forearm it knocked me back 20 steps and im still trying to get stength and grip back.

No link, no plan. Call up Vin or Matt Rhodes and make the trip to his gym in CT.

Gym related, it had been bothering me for a while but I thought it was muscular, as did my Dr. I think it was a holdout with 765 that really put it over the edge.
