As i've never maxed out on parallel squats...or actually ever really done parallel squats, im wondering for those that do both, what are your maxes on each?

I'm curious as to how much more i could do if i was taking the easy way out instead of going down all the way :mamoru:

    :nono:

i have a broken collarbone, i wont be squatting for a while :( seated leg machines only :wtc:

And i dont do parallel, but considering powerlifting you go until your hip is lower than your knees (* maybe? am i right? ) i was curious as to how much more i could squat doing it that way :o

Parallel counts in competition, so why bother with ass to grass?

my legs and ass are too big for ass to grass :o

they're proabably not actually, but it feels like my hams run into my calves at about parallel and I can't go any lower

I was defending you on not going down to parallel, saying that some people have different forms (the other guy said stop cheating).

    Step 1: Read
Step 2: Put words into context
    Step 3: Reply

your body was designed to complete a full range of motion, would you do 50% bicep curls?

    Big difference for me...
To parallel I've done 365... and it wasn't my max. Could have probably done at least 2 reps.
ATF again not necesserily my max but close ...was 275.

I was warned by the staff in the fitness area of my gym to not go lower than parallel because it places excessive pressure on the insides of my knee caps. they all have qualifications in sports medicine, so why should i not listen to them? honest question - i'd like to do what's best for me.

:ugh2: it was a joke.. *aussies*

Clearly I don't do 50% bicep curls, but as far as I know, in competition, parallel is what counts.. so why try and max below parallel?

Do you seriously think your legs are going to grow any differently from going ass to the grass to parallel? I know you wont have ANY studies to prove otherwise. I used to go ass to the grass and now go a little below parallel and am more comfortable and get a better feel. YOu do what works for you. And its not cutting motion in half. I don't do bicep curls either.
