Unless you're a mod, you must post a picture of yourself before you flame or criticize someone else.

That is all. Return to your business. :eek3:

Neg see if you actually knew anything about me you'd know I hate cage fighting.

    Ring > cage.

    Open mat > ring

Cage fighters pin each other against the cage and use it as a weapon.... Similarly those who are pinned down can use it to get up. It's an unnatural environment and doesn't allow either fighter to truly demonstrate their fighting skill using their body and the ground, which are the two things they are born with. Might as well give each fighter a shield or a club if you're going to put them into a cage.... it totally takes away the purpose of trying to see who is the best fighter. Leagues such as Pride and K-1 that use rings do not allow leaning on the ropes, so although it isn't perfect, it's much better.

so because you're not born with a cage, you shouldnt fight in one? your rationale is stupendous. not everyone will know how to properly use the cage/walls/whatever to their advantage either, so wouldnt taht show a level of skill?

I've done martial arts for almost 6 months now, which basically makes me the most dangerous man in the state. contradict me... and regret it.

    Yeah a retarded one.

All forms of grappling are learned and ideally executed on a large open mat. There are no walls or cages.

The cage has an outside factor that allows people to change their game from regular MMA to MMA within a certain environment. You could be a great cage fighter and get your ass kicked when the cage element is taken from you, because you've adapted your game to fit that particular environment. The ring has this factor too, but it's boundary is not allowed to be used as a weapon, and the officials try to keep the fight centered and away from boundaries so that the fighters can only use the tools that nature gave them, which are their limbs and the ground that they stand on.

Take, for example, the first known MMA fights that were done in the Roman Coloseum thousands of years ago. This was in a huge open space, and fighters had just their bodies and the ground to use. The ring tries to capture this aspect and, although it has its downfalls just like the cage, honors the idea that fighters are using their own two fists, and nothing else. The point is that a fighter who wins in an open environment can more legitimately claim actual fighting skill of art and ability rather than fighting skill of art and ability within a certain unnatural environment.

we were also given the ability to think and create tools....in the event of a bar fight you can bet your ass I am grabbing a stool or table to swing at some fucker....

Yes, but the point of MMA and in fact all forms of organized fighting competitions is not to see who can adapt to their environment and fight the best within it, it's who can fight the best using their body and nothing else.

I don't watch fights to see people beat the shit out of each other, I watch them to see people dominate someone else through their superior ability.
