In light of the recent change in heart by most of f&n I thought it appropriate to create a guide to posting for most of the new members. This guide is designed to make it as easy as possible to fit in. So when you have a question, follow these simple steps and it will most likely save you from being broly flamed.

    1/ Read the stickies

    -duh

    2/ Read the archives

-If its a common question, chances are it will be in here. All of the information in the archives is quite comprehensive.

3/ Provide all necessary information when starting a thread

-So you have a question that wasn't answered in the archives, great. The first thing you need to do is provide all necessary information that might help your f&n peers to answer it. eg. if you have a question regarding your diet, provide your damn diet. If its a specific question about yourself, pictures can speak a thousand words.

4/ Be willing to take advice

-Theres nothing more annoying to than going out of your way to help someone with their training, and then they totally ignore your advice. Try to adhere as closely as possible to advice given.

5/ Take some flaming like a man

-A joke is a joke, so be a little light hearted and don't take it personally. Whilst this is fitness and nutrition, we're still in offtopic and it just has to be expected. If you do post a shit thread (either something really stupid or something that could be easily answered by looking in the archives) expect to be flamed.

6/ Don't post about stuff you don't know about

-If you don't have any knowledge on a topic, or are unsure, don't post information about it pretending like you do. Ask questions, but keep your uneducated crap to yourself. The nature of the fitness industry dictates that there is a lot of differing opinoins, however, when you post blatantly wrong information it is very annoying.

    thanks for your time

(don't flame me, this is serious, if anyone has any more to add feel free)

    I thought about that

If its not in here though, f&n could benefit from it and it could be then added to the archives?

this is a great idea, but sit there and think about it for a second. when people come in here they skip over the stickies and archives. they start threads containing questions that are already answered in the stickies and archives. therefore, if you make this thread a sticky, then you'll have to say "refer to the sticky at the top of the page" and then they'll read your sticky and then the rest of the stickies and archives. so really, it's kind of pointless

I think you underestimate the number of people who read the stickies.

Can we add something in about not asking really specific questions when starting out? Everyone seems to come in and give some really long detailed story about why they failed and their lifting history of quitting and restarting and quitting again and now they have time etc. 99% of the people coming in here are not unique in terms of their needs, so we don't need to know their whole background, nor should they expect we need to know it so some sort of special unique routine or nutritional habits should be set up specifically for them. Pretty much all anyone here needs to know is to eat more or eat less, and lift some weights.

So I'm confused, by this sticky, flaming is okay if justified, but I've been lead to believe otherwise?

just help or dont bother posting...pretty simple...although...if someone acts like an ass to you after helping...there fair game in my book. Also if your flamed first...there game. Also if someones a royal douche in there post when asking for help...game on.
