    F.E.A.R. was a dissapointment, why?

BECAUSE EVEN AT 800x600 THE SHIT RUNS AT 20 FPS.

God that's annoying, I peice together an affordable gaming pc and I can't even run the fucking game at 1280x960. Jesus.. trash. Guess I gotta build another fucking gaming system - which will take me another year to save up for.. :madfawk:

Oh, btw, my specs are.. 3.4ghz p4 1gig ram and a x600 series RADEON. Shouldn't that run anything at any fucking setting I want? Jesus.. think a simple video card upgrade would do the trick?

So annoying.. so SO annoying.. :squint:

umm. no, you bought a shitty video card dude. anything in the "X" line if ATi cards besides the X800 series is "budget oriented" and isn't for hardcore gaming. you get what you pay for.

oh, and you don't need an entirely new system lol, you just need a better video card. :hsugh:

If you want to play ANY game at ANY settings (at least right now) you'll need a 7800GTX (possibly 2 for SLi) and that alone probably costs more than your entire computer I would imagine.

Wtf, budget card? Jesus it was almost 300 bucks. Whatever though, its cool, think a card upgrade would do me wonders? Or just a nudge in performance?
And I meant I need a new system because mine is intel based, I want an AMD based system for my games, say with a AMD Athlon 64 FX-57 chip. I'll use this one I'm using now for my graphics/video/whatever shit.

I'm more into complete rebuilding if something is.. unlikeable. To hell with tweaking old parts, get some new ones!

After a quick look.. one of those 7800gtx's is just under 500 bucks. I assure you my system was around 1700 bucks, so uh.. no it wouldnt cost more than my system. However seeing this event I might have to save up for one now.

Bad allocation of funds..take a fraction of that money you'd spend on a new fx57 system and just buy a 7800gtx for your current one (if it's pcie). If money's no object, then do whatever you want, but I figured since you chose the x600 that you were on a budget. Modern games are definately GPU bound so it's definately better to bias the spending towards the video card and away from the rest of the system if you're just going to play games.

Compared to AMD's top processor right now, it might not be described as an "incredibly fast" rig, but that's because the top AMD processor is what, almost $1000 alone?

It's plenty fast enough for games, you are/were jsut lackign a good GPU. Many people generalize that AMD is overall better at gaming, and gaming on an Intel sucks. This just isn't true. I myself am a hardcore AMD fan, i've never bought an Intel...but even i know a retard comment like what you probably heard lol.

At the time (considering the pricetag of $300) it was probably one of the newest cards available, whch wouldn't be a waste. Now you can pick them up for under $100.

    X600? I push 60fps with a 9700 pro/3200+ XP. And that's also at 800x600 but I turned on extra lighting options.

DoD:Source also runs like a pig in molasses at 1024x768, just like F.E.A.R.

Kinda sad, time to get a Crossfire system...

I tweaked some shit and got it up to around 30-40fps in 1280x960, now this is my third time gong thru it. Did all the diff levels, I love this game, cant wait til I can nab a 7800GTX.

Also.. out of the vid cards discussed in this thread which do you guys think would come out the winner?

...well most new cards that come out are supposed to be better than the existing cards, which is why we pay more for them and anticipate them. but sometime's this isn't true.

i've seen "reviews" of ATi's new cards (i believe X1800 and 1600?) and they actually did not compete with the 7800GTX in the majority of benchmarks. BUT, i think it was all bullshit/fake. no pics of card, no real screenies....and somewhat of a crappy site.

so your guess is as good as mine.

the X1800 isn't a paper launch this week. The XL is released on Oct5, and the X1600s, and X1300s as well. the XT is released on Nov5.

lol, if u can afford it. nothing wrong with buying an X800 series card or 6800GT card...but like everything else in your computer it's not going to last forever.
