This car is for sale at a local used car lot, and I know it's overpriced. Can any of you more experienced guys give me an idea what you think it's worth?

    1997 Z28, M6, LT1.

    ~150000 miles.

Silver body, grey cloth interior, says "30 years" on the headrests.

Signs of abuse- needs four tires, interior trim damaged and missing, r/f fender replaced (badly), other warning signs.

No radio. At all- just a hole in the dash.

Starts and runs, but it seems like the idle is a little rough (I have ZERO LT1 experience, so maybe it's normal). There's no sign of leaking coolant or oil, and although the engine has been cleaned it's been sitting in the same spot for at least a month and there's no sign of leaks on the ground under under the engine.

I can't test drive it because of flat tires and snow, but I wouldn't anyway because the tires are bald and cracked. If I get closer to a deal I'll drive it before I hand over money.

The used car lot it's on is combined repair facility/sales, and english is definitely a second language for the employees. If it matters, the shop is recommended by the local muslim community in their online website.

    How much would you offer?

    Any thoughts/advice?

    $4950, but I'm pretty sure that's a little high.

    Are you series?

Wow... first off.. that car with the damage is worth MAYBE $1500. $2000 if you want to be generous.

Some dude posted picking up an LS1 for $3500.

If the car is free from coolant and oil leaks then the rough IDLE is a severely damaged and worn optispark or burnt plug wires from a shitty job changing them. A badly worn optispark (front mount distributor) will normally idle fine, but buck and brawl when you hit the gas and the car is up to operating temperature. The good news is you have a "vented" version.

I'm betting on completely dead plugs and wires for this issue. Unfortunately you can't tell whether you will have to spend $350 for a new vented opti (and about 5 hours labour if you pay somebody to do it or 10 hours your first time on your own) unless you change those things.

You "COULD" have a severely plugged EGR valve at the back of the engine bolted to the intake.

If it was just mechanical and the oil pressure was good and no milky white on the dipstick I'd say do it. However with the other visuals you'll have no idea the health of the engine. Those cars can take severe impacts without major frame damage... but you never know.

I know of two 4th gen cars which have been tracked and went off falling about three feet and only bending upper control arms. I also know of two impacting Mosport big track walls and bending rear ends ($200 from scrapyard) as all the damage (besides body).

Walk from a rough running LT1 when LS1 engines are the same price.

I've had to build me four of them. :(

I can to say this. Wait and find a cheap LS1......Other than the LT1 sounds better than an LS1 at high RPM, it doesn't have much going for it.

My cousin got a '98 with like 53,000 miles 100% stock with new paint for $7,500. Before he over corrected and burried the freeway guard rail he had a 65,000 mile '98 for $6,500.

i would pass it up. You going to have to dump more money into it the the price of the car itself.
