those specs suck, especially for a machine running vista. you'd lag without any kind of spyware.

Your system should be able to run vista fine, so long as you aren't doing anything major on it. The log file is clean, with a gig of ram it should run fine... hard drive issue maybe?

Mine is roughly the same that I got free from school. I couldnt take the slowness even with 2gb ram and put XP on. Works fine now.

How many processes do you have running after a fresh reboot

    Task manager BTW (CTRL+ALT+DEL)

  9. Possibly? I have no idea what it could be. The computer ran fine. I know it's not the greatest, but it is fine. This has popped up within the last few days, and I can't figure it out.

I really don't want to do a restore.. :hsd:

no, 1 gig of ram is not enough for vista. i mistakenly thought this when i bought a laptop for my boss. he had no viruses or spyware and it ran horribly. upgrading to 2 gig of ram fixed most of the slowness, although my boss' laptop also had a better processor than the thread starter to begin with.

the RAM upgrade would be my first course of action, though.

  12. But it was been fine up til a few days ago. I see the hour glass allllll day. :hs:

I would like to upgrade ram anyways, but is that really my problem?

Fuck off dude. You don't use computers enough to know that Vista runs fine on 1 GB of ram...although you won't be playing games and multitasking. "EXTREME LAG" and "20 minutes to get system specs up".. that is not a ram issue. At all. Get bent faggot.

wow, who is this faggot. lurk more.

if you think 1gb is plenty for vista it's probably just because you're use to piss poor performance.

i don't know about his sudden onset of "EXTREME LAG" but on the few computers i built that mistakenly had only 1 gb of ram and vista; only a few applications (including background services) open would cause the hard drive to thrash like mad when memory ran out and and paging became frequent. i wouldn't say 20 minute delays, but 2-5 minutes easily.

Used to piss poor performance? I currently have 8 GB of memory on a Q6600, installed on a raptor 150 GB 10k RPM drive. I highly doubt I am starved of performance. You don't work with computers to know what "piss poor performance" is.
