    hello,

I am looking at getting an extra monitor for my MBP that I bought this past fall. I am also going to be hooking up my xbox 360 through a VGA cord to it. Are all of the monitors sold in brand name stores today compatible with a mac? Do i need any extra software? What about the cord to connect the two?

any info would be great. Id like to get this as cheap as possible so I guess my price range would be $100-$250ish. I would also buy used as well as long as it is in good condition and good quality.

    Thanks :wavey:

MBP has a dvi out on it, so unless you want to use a converter make sure the monitor has a dvi input. Every monitor should be compatible afaik, and you don't need any software everything is done in system preferences -> displays.

EDIT: Do you go to NC State?

the dvi dongle for your macbook to display on the monitor will be 25

if you've got a 15 or 17 run both monitors for a dual monitor setup

thanks sounds good. and yes I do go to NC State, I will be a sophomore this fall and I can not wait to go back.
I have a 15. I was planning on running both the laptop screen and the other monitor at the same time (unless im playing the 360).

I thought the MBP had a straight DVI out... just the MB's had the mini DVI that needs the dongle?
