    So, Mac gurus:

I have a, er, well, a massive crack in my ibook's integral display. So, I borrowed a Sceptre X20 monitor from a friend to use until I can put together a replacement computer.

I got the monitor cable hooked up, power cord etc. It turns on and takes a signal just fine. Problem is, I'm basically using a 24" or 22" widescreen LCD at the same resolution as my iBook...1024x768.

So, my question is: Is it possible in OS10.5.7 (PowerPC machine, just barely pre-Intel) to muck with a setting so that I can actually exploit more of the X20's display capability? Similarly, can I set up OS so that the external monitor, when it's connected, is the primary monitor, and the built-in (and messed-up) integral screen is either blue or blank?

Mostly the first one, since I figure I can always just turn the brightness on the laptop itself all the way down to zero if I want it to be dark, but I can't figure out how to get the external working better.

    Any tips are welcome.

That...is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for. Thanks.
