I've got a little 80gb 2.5" external, formatted FAT32, that i used to use as a portable music library, managed by Itunes... it worked fine for the past year, but ever since I upgraded to Leopard, it doesn't show up in the finder when I plug it in. It still pops up on a windows machine (or even in a VMWare windows session on THIS machine, plugged into the same port)

Any thoughts on this? I can't find this drive AT ALL from within Leopard.

So it doesn't even list the drive in Disk Utility? Or just not the partition?

I had the same problem with a 2.5" 100GB FAT32 drive also with the partition not showing up in Finder/Disk Utility. However this was on Tiger. Haven't tried it on Leopard yet.

Mine shows up in system profiler, but not in disk utility. I think this drive might be a little fucked though, because I just tried moving all my music off of it and it gave me an error.

Do you have PW protection on it? Because I had the same issue when I changed over to Leopard, and apparently you have to shut off the password option before switching over or else it wont read the HD. I had to go back reinstall Tiger, turn off the PW, then reinstall Leopard again it was very frustrating.

Yeah, I read about that, but I never pw protected this drive. I think it's just fucked, need to do whatever repair and removal I can and reformat the little bitch.

Lol, so I did some extensive tests and results prove it's actually my external drive.

8 month old 500GB WD MyBook Essential. Below me.

I called WD and they are sending me a new one to replace mine, once I get my shit on the new one, I'll ship them mine. That's it.

    :hs:
