was thinking about this, not sure if it can be done. i have a 60gb PB. say i get an external HD that is 160gb. is there a way to set everything up, so when i plug in the external HD, there is a 60gb partition on the eternal HD that is a complete 60gb replica of my PB HD, and then use the extra space (in this case 100gb) as say, a file server. where i can save files that i dont want to take up space on my PB, but dont want to delete forever, and just throw 'em on the external HD.

    thanx for the help

just set up the partitions using Apple Disk Tools or whatever it's called (I don't feel like going into my office and loking right now...if you can't figure it out, holler and I'll go look). it comes with OS X though, so you've already got the app to do the partitioning.
